2017 Competition

 Short Film Competition

Sunday, October 15 at 1 PM, Cinémental held its annual short film competition.

The following awards were distributed:

The Gerbe d’Or Award, the audience choice award goes to:

A BAG OF MARBLES

A meticulous adaptation of Joseph Joffo’s novel, A Bag of Marbles is the true story of two adolescent Jewish brothers who escape the enemy from occupied France, deeply touched viewers. They cited Canadian director Christian Duguay’s skill and the excellent two young actors. A certificate will be sent to Les Films Séville, the film’s Canadian distributor.

The Épi d’Or Award, Audience choice award for a Canadian short film (a certificate from the festival) was awarded to:

Professional Stream: Un trou dans la jambe by Martine Asselin

Amateur Stream: Hockey Poutine et Timbits by a team from the Saint-Paul Collegial Institute (FVM Production)

Alyssa Houde, Shavaughn Jochum, Dana Jonasson, McKenzie Andries, Jayda Melnic

The Cinémental Award for the Best Canadian Short Film of the festival was awarded by a jury composed of Valentin Cueff, Barbara Gorrand and Jen Funk. One year of streaming on www.cinemental.com and the amounts of 400$ for the professional stream and 200$ for the amateur stream were awarded.
